DALLAS – October 13, 2015 – Dallas Market Center and the ARTs nominating committee selected Robert Currey of Currey & Company as this year’s Academy of Achievement honoree.

“Robert Currey received an unprecedented number of nominations for Academy of Achievement this year from across the industry, “Sharon Davis, Executive Director of ART said.  “After such strong endorsement, the committee agreed that he was the obvious choice.”

Picture 065aCurrey founded Garden Source Furnishings, now Currey & Company, in 1988 with the focus of creating and marketing classic garden furniture from the Winterthur Museum and the Smithsonian Institution. By the early 1990s the collection expanded to include lighting and a new focus for interior furnishings. Currey, long time innovator in the home furnishing industry, now focuses his time running a small sustainable market garden in Sparta, Georgia.

“With a lifetime of home furnishing experience, Robert Currey has built a reputation as a legendary merchant, a designer and manufacturer,” Cindy Morris, president and CEO of Dallas Market Center said. “Robert grew one store into twenty eight and design ideas into a vast collection of stylish products. The ARTS Awards, presented each January during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market, recognizes top manufacturers, retailers, product designers, interior designers and sales representatives from across the world in 26 different categories. The winners will be revealed during a gala event on Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. The Academy of Achievement honor is awarded each year to recognize companies and/or individuals that have made significant contributions to the industry.
